CarGuard helps you manage your cost. Your car is probably your biggest investment besides your house.  It is undoubtedly a crucial aspect of your daily life.  As such, it is important that it remains on the road and not in your mechanic's garage.  But as we all know, cars break.  At some point, no matter how religious the maintenance, a car will break.  Maybe it’s a small repair.  Maybe not.

Regardless, It is an unplanned expense. It may be a very costly unplanned expense. So then, how does CarGuard help you manage your costs? We offer financing on all of our extended service contracts. Our extended warranty financing is a planned expense. Sure it is an expense, but it is one you budgeted. It’s an affordable expense that protects you from unaffordable repairs.  Also, the extended warranty financing that we offer is 0% interest, for everyone.  There are no credit checks, or hidden fees.  It is just something we offer to help manage costs.

 extended warranties: Apples and Oranges

You may be looking for ways to extend the useful life of your car without spending a lot of money. Here's a thought: Why not purchase a service contract (sometimes referred to inaccurately as an extended warranty) for your car?

So here's the proposition: by spending money on a service contract, you are committing to a known and planned expense instead of waiting like an ostrich with its head in a hole for that fateful day when "Oops, you've got a $3200 repair bill for your car's transmission".

It's a bit of a gamble -- sort of like homeowner's insurance. One thing's for sure; your car will break down. It's only a matter of time.

So let's pretend you think a service contract for your car is a good idea. How do you go about determining which car warranty is for you? A couple of key points.

There are good ones and there are bad ones. Look for the warranty that is backed by an administrator who has been rated by AM Best, an independent agency that ranks all sorts of financial institutions. An A rating is the minimum acceptable rating.

Don't be in a rush. Anyone who is pressing you to buy today is engaging in pressure sales tactics you don't need. Buying things over the phone is tough enough without being tormented by a salesman who says "You have to do this today" for any reason. You want to make sure the product offered is the best for your vehicle, for your driving habits and for your wallet.

Review a copy of the contract. This is the internet age. You're reading precisely because you have internet access. Ask for a copy of the contract so you can review it on your own time.

Compare pricing. There is such a wide variation in pricing for two reasons: One, you get what you pay for. If the price is "crazy good" the product is probably "crazy bad". On the other end of the spectrum, beware of sellers who have marked up the price of the contract excessively and are the folks who are using pressure sales techniques precisely so you don't have time to comparison shop.

Finally, listen to the person selling you the service contract. You may want to talk to them at a future date. Do they sound intelligent? Helpful? Informed? Articulate? If you bring a unique problem to them, do they sound like they will be able to help you? You are purchasing the contract for 3 or 4 or 5 years. Will they be there to help you along the way?

Finally, a word about CarGuard. It is with an eye toward being the best provider of extended service contracts in the industry that CarGuard engages in this business. Too many people have suffered at the hands of unscrupulous business people who misrepresent automobile service contracts to innocent people. CarGuard believes in its products and services. We're here to help. Please give us ample consideration as you undertake the research and selection of the best extended warranty for your car.

CarGuard: We're the Good Guys

CarGuard Extended Service Contracts

We've undertaken a rebranding strategy of CarGuard. Gone is the shield and replacing it, is a logo that includes a little angel icon. Call him your CarGuardian Angel.

The business of extended service contracts for automobiles has a murky past. Right along with used car sales and salesmen alike, there are some not so good stories about extended warranties.

Enter CarGuard.

For two years, we have been selling and supporting extended service contracts to thousands of people, mostly in the New England area. Our approach is quite simple: Retain the best products, make sure our customers understand exactly what they are buying before they buy and, in those instances where stuff happens, take excellent care of those very same customers.

I think our results speak for themselves. Are we perfect? Nope. But our customer cancellations are by far the lowest in the industry. Our contracts have paid for tens of thousands of dollars of repairs already. And our customers refer us to their friends and family precisely because we have a good product and take good care of our customers.

In short, we think we're the good guys. Good enough to be represented by an angel. A Guardian Angel. A CarGuardian Angel. Give us a call at 1-800-292-6222 so we can help you protect yourself from the high cost of automotive repairs.

Why Buy Now? CarGuard for your Vehicle

Extended Warranty, Carguard Vehicle Service Contract

I speak with AAA members on the phone. Often times, I will explain all of the benefits of CarGuard, but for some reason, they hold off on buying.

"My car is rock solid. I haven't had any problems with it." "I just don't think I need this for my car yet. I'll call you back in about 6 months."
About a month or two later, they buy the policy after their car suffers a catastrophic repair. It's happened at least a dozen times.
So why buy now? I can think of three reasons immediately.

1. Your car isn't getting any younger. Cars have "birthdays," or odometer readings, that change the value of the car. For instance, most factory warranties expire at 36,000 miles. 48000, 50000, 60,000 and even 100000 are all important marks that dramatically change the value of the car. When they hit these readings, warranty rates go up and the value of your vehicle decreases.

2. Your car isn't getting any cheaper. Even though the value of your car plunges over time ( a new car loses $10,000 of worth when it leaves the lot,) repairs don't get any cheaper! This is why buying a warranty sooner will lock in your rates.

3. Finally, you never know when your car is going to break down. Because you cannot plan for a a car breakdown, it isn't always easy or possible to finance the repair. By purchasing a warranty, you are purchasing your car's repairs upfront, therefore you are never financially unprepared.

Buy CarGuard for your car. Finance your car repairs and never be surprised by catastrophe again.

Extended Warranties: Crime Doesn't Pay

handcuffs

It is with a certain amount of hesitation that I post this blog entry. There are unscrupulous players in this industry and they do NOT enhance our reputation by their actions. This blog is about one of them.

A BusinessWeek article was published online on March 21st detailing an elaborate scam dating back to 2007 involving sales of vehicle service contracts by a company called Transcontinental Warranty.

From the article:

"Where Transcontinental went wrong, Wigginton has said, is that it led people to believe the calls were on behalf of automakers and used a fictitious name in dealings with consumers. The company also suggested it was capable of extending or reinstating warranties and that the product being sold was an actual warranty instead of a service contract, which often includes a waiting period for the repair and allows repair shops to use replacement parts from junkyards."

Aside from using automatic telephone dialing equipment, these scoundrels told prospective victims of their scam their car warranties were expiring ( which may have been true). What wasn't true was a representation by the scammers that they were extending the factory warranty. They weren't. They were selling a third party extended service contract. As a result, the perpetrators may be going to prison.

All of which continues to make it very difficult for folks like us who are trying to do an honest day's work on behalf of our customers.

Please rest assured CarGuard will not misrepresent our company or our products, will not harrass prospective customers with robo-dialing and will continue to provide the best possible extended warranties available in the industry.

Good products and good service by an informed staff. It's why CarGuard is the exclusive provider of vehicle service contracts to AAA Southern New England members.

Extended Warranties: 60% Off! Really????

Brand X

I actually received an email offering an extended service contract for 60% off. See photo above. So a couple of things jumped out at me:

There is no business name on the graphic and the graphic was pretty much the whole email. No business name? That seems a bit sketchy to me. So let's call them Brand X.

We decorate all of our advertising with two important pieces of information. First, we are CarGuard. We're on the web. Look us up. Name, address and telephone number all available.

The other thing I noticed, and what truly troubled me was this: They were offering an extended service contract at 60% off their regular price! I'm not sure what that's telling you, but it tells me Brand X must either be in real financial trouble or they were seriously overcharging with their original pricing. Either way, the message is not good.

A contract which was originally offered at $2,500 (a fair price) would only cost $1000 (a crazy price) if you took 60% off. Or perhaps it's $2,500 after the discount making the 'regular' price $4,167 (again, a crazy price).

So how about this? A consistent price for a consistent product?? from time to time, CarGuard does offer specials - a hundred bucks here or there. But not 60%!!!

Please call us at 1-800-292-6222 to see how buying a CarGuard extended service contract for your car or truck may be the best investment you make this year!

CarGuard Extended Warranty: LET’S THINK FIRST!

                           Untitled1

When you think about an automobile warranty, the majority of people thinks about the warranty that comes WITH the car when you purchase it. Most vehicles come with a factory warranty for 3 years and 36,000 miles from date of the vehicle's manufacture.  When it runs out you are on your own for all repairs.

Think about this: The chances of a major repair happening within 36,000 miles and 3 years are slim to none.  In a perfect world, people would be able to drive a car for 3 years (36,000 miles) and then trade it in and get a brand new one.  In these economic times, you are looking to get more years of service out of your car. Here is where you need to use your brain and think about the future of your vehicle and wallet.

If you think your car will never break and you will never have to bring it in for a repair then your thought process is way off.  Statistics show and prove that all cars break down, especially in the northeast typically after 36,000 miles.

I’m not trying to scare you, but you should THINK about protecting your vehicle, in case of an unexpected breakdown and repair bill.  Your vehicle is part of your livelihood and you need it to get from point A to point B (and sometimes C) on a daily basis.  The State requires you to have collision insurance that you pay at least $1000 a year for and never use RIGHT?  When was the last time you got in an accident and had to use your collision insurance?

You can cover your car for auto repairs for $400-$600 a year with a Car Guard Extended Service Contract.  That’s nothing when you think of the 10’s of thousands of parts that may need repairs.

On average, one repair bill with cost for parts and labor for all vehicles is $800.  That’s ONE repair bill. It might blow your mind to see what types of vehicles and parts need to be repaired, and the cost of parts and labor for these repairs.

Call one of our agents today to provide you with some of the repair bills/claims we have paid. You will be shocked, and you won't have to THINK any further about an extended warranty with Car Guard.

THINK FIRST AND THINK CARGUARD FOR YOUR FUTURE!

CarGuard is the best quality Extended Service Warranty

Is it quality or quantity?

food fund slugger

How often do people go to the grocery store and fill their cart with Ramen noodles and Craft Mac N’ Cheese?  Yeah sure, everyone puts a few in their cart, but I’m talking about filling it.  Does your car overflow with these items? My guess is no.  These items are no doubt the cheapest edible meals a person can buy.  So why doesn’t everyone buy them?

Sure, you can get an Extended Car Warranty from a Mc-Warranty company for $1200.00, just like you can get Ramen noodles for $0.79… but is that best for your vehicle?

It’s not about quantity, it’s about quality.  There are many warranty companies out there that offer cheap products.  These products may be easier on the wallet…but is it worth it in the end? Is it worth the inevitable denied claim or the stomachache?  Cheap products have cheap service.

CarGuard offers the best Extended Service Contracts policies in the industry.  CarGuard is the best quality. Our policies are back by “A” rated insurers so all claims are processed quickly and properly.  The coverage level we offer is unparalleled.

Also, CarGuard’s knowledgeable customer service representatives are here to help throughout the life of the policy so members never have to deal with the claims process.

The fact is, if Mc-Warranty Company is a burger, then CarGuard is a steak.  CarGuard is a really nice steak. Yeah, it’s a little more money than a pre-made reheated crap-tastic burger…but the entire dining experience is superior.

CarGuard: Exclusionary VS. Stated Coverage

62129 resized 600

There are only two types of policies; Exclusionary Coverage and Stated Coverage.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but “Bumper to Bumper” is not a type of Extended Warranty.  It is an expression used by Dealerships and Sales personnel.  The term “Bumper to Bumper” is geared toward creating the illusion that all items from the front to the rear bumper are covered.  In reality, the term is used to describe Exclusionary as well as Stated Coverage. It gives no actual insight into the level of coverage that a policy offers.

So, back to the two types of coverage: Exclusionary and Stated.

Exclusionary Coverage is absolutely the very best coverage offered.  It will cover every single mechanical item on the vehicle, excluding only normal maintenance or wear-and-tear items.  Typically excluded items are oil changes, light bulbs, tires, brake pads (not braking system).  All of these items are designed by the vehicle to wear out.  Therefore, they are not covered. An exclusionary policy will have a list of “excluded items.” These are the only things NOT covered through the policy.  All items not designed to wear out (computer systems, sensors, electronics, engine, transmission, steering system, etc.) are covered.

Stated Coverage works entirely in the opposite manner of Exclusionary.  Instead of listing what items are excluded, Stated Coverage... states what is covered.  The more mechanical items stated, the better the coverage.  Stated coverage is a very broad term.  It can be as comprehensive as three hundred stated components, or as few as one stated item.

The important thing is to look at what you’re buying.  Get Exclusionary Coverage if you can.  If your car doesn’t qualify for it, that’s ok.  Stated coverage can be excellent if you know what to look for.  Remember, not all coverage is created equal, so ask a CarGuard Representative what coverage is best for your car.
